Toonarbin
“Toonarbin” was built in the 1860’s as a Georgian residence by prolific colonial architect Benjamin Backhouse and has had a remarkable history up to the present day. Along with its special architecture and interiors, including ten fireplaces, “Toonarbin” houses a beautiful art collection of Australian paintings covering the period from the late 1800’s (Charles Conder, John Peter Russell) to the mid-1900’s (Arthur Streeton, Hans Heysen, Arthur Boyd, Brett Whiteley, Hilda Rix-Nicholas, Margaret Olley).
Carmel and Allen love sharing their love of their house and collection, and Allen will take great pleasure in taking those interested on a tour of the house and the art.
Canapes and drinks can be enjoyed on the open terrace at the rear of the residence, under the beautiful Brisbane night sky.
More details will be sent to attendees before the event. For more on the history follow the attached link
*$20 of this will be donated to the Brisbane chapter of the “Room to Read” charitable organisation, devoted to bringing literacy education to children (and girls in particular) around the world where it is needed.
